"Sticky" RuneScape Stands At #1

How familiar are you with RuneScape? According to Hitwise, it’s number one among the plethora of virtual worlds for children and teens, and about ten days ago, Nielsen//NetRatings called RuneScape one of Britain’s “stickiest” sites. cheap runescape powerleveling

So, for those of you who aren’t familiar with RuneScape, it’s a MMORPG, or in the company’s parlance, “an evolving world of remarkable depth and flexibility.” Think of it as World of Warcraft for a younger set. And, judging from LeeAnn Prescott’s latest numbers, it’s evolving into a very big world. “RuneScape is by far the #1 site,” she wrote, “with 44% of visits to the category.”

RuneScape’s closest competitors owned the bragging rights on growth; “[w]hen comparing the weeks ending 4/29/06 and 4/28/07,” Prescott continued, “the market share of visits to Webkinz was up 1141%, Club Penquin up 545%, and Stardoll up 275%.” In terms of overall market share, however, those sites fell far behind, with just 14.08%, 10.57%, and 5.89%, respectively.

Which leads us back to the Nielsen//NetRatings info - taken together, the reports seem to indicate that that kids pick up on things quickly and possess a long attention span. (And lest any adult RuneScape players feel insulted, I should note once again that Hitwise was measuring virtual worlds for children and teens.) cheap runescape powerleveling

According to Nielsen//NetRatings, then, “Games brands account for four of the top seven sites by average time per visitor - RuneScape, Electronic Arts, King.com and Adventure Quest.” This qualifies these sites as “sticky,” and so, while that’s not the nicest-sounding term, RuneScape (and its players) should be glad that it applies.

2007, The Year of the Online Game?

2005 was the year of the social network. In 2006, online video was the chief cause of acquisition hysteria. Will 2007 be the year of the online gaming site? Why not? Where else do you find an audience so devoted they'll forfeit sleep and food? A growing audience that is loyal, habitual, and young seems ripe for the picking.

Blizzard Entertainment announced yesterday that World of Warcraft, the subscription-based online battle so compelling to gamers all over the world that people have died of exhaustion, or of virtual weapon jealousy, has surpassed eight million users: 2 million in the US, 1.5 million in Europe, and 3.5 million in China. buy runescape powerleveling

In Australia, the mania is for Runescape, which holds a 7.23 percent market share of gaming site visitors. Hitwise's Sandra Hanchard writes that, in this region of the world (Asia-Pacific region), more than one in five visits in the entertainment category visits a gaming site. Well, it's closer to a quarter: 23.86 percent of visits were to online gaming sites, dwarfing multimedia sites' 12.12 percent, and movies' 5.92 percent.

"While we've seen the recent explosive growth of YouTube and video sharing," says Hanchard, "it would seem that the online Games industry is deserving of more attention by marketers and advertisers given its prominence in website visits."

Susquehanna Financial Group (SFG) agrees, and recently reported that just 16 percent of the international audience has been penetrated, in terms of online advertising. In the US and Europe, it's more like 50 percent, but the Internet is evolving rapidly as a world market, and games transcend languages and cultures.

So what we have here is a world market, hardly served in terms of advertising, that comes back to these few sites day after day and spends hours per session at them. As noted earlier this week, the future is in time spent, not in page views. A virtual billboard along a virtual street will become prime real estate. buy runescape powerleveling

Time is a very valuable concept, and will yield the up-tick in online dayparting. In television and radio, dayparting is an advertising term that identifies specific audiences that watch or listen to specific programming at specific times of day.

This is why you see cheesy ambulance-chaser injury lawyer commercials during Judge Hatchett, bra commercials during Oprah, Girls Gone Wild commercials after midnight on Comedy Central. The right people at the right time are watching, and are delivered the right advertising content.

So which online gaming sites are evoking the most time out of their users? US Visitors to IamGame.com spend nearly two hours per session there, according to Hitwise. BrainKing.com visitors stick around for an hour and a half.

In terms of market share, Hitwise says Pogo.com is leading the way in this category, pulling nearly 11 percent in the US; Yahoo! Games attracts seven percent; and RuneScape, again, pulls in 5.67 percent. Note those percentages. There will come a time when advertisers pay special attention to online audience ratings presented in much the same way TV ratings are presented. Pogo.com receives an 11-share, compared to hypothetical video on YouTube's 15-share.

Susquehanna also reports that while the Internet accounted for 25 percent of total media consumption in 2006, only six percent of total advertising dollars made it there. SFG projects that the total spend for online advertising will rise to 12 percent by 2011.

Susquehanna predicts gangbuster growth for online gaming. In 2005, only $56 million was spent on in-game advertising. SFG expects in-game advertising to grow 70 percent year-over-year, reaching $1 billion by 2010.

So now may be time to get in on the action, and 2007 (or 2008, if I want to be a sissy about it) may be the year of the online game. With Google getting into video, radio, and real-world billboards, would it be safe to imagine captive worldwide audiences would be attractive also? I suppose we'll see.

Information about buying WoW Gold and RS Gold

World of Warcraft (WoW) and Runescape (RS) are two most popular online MMORPG “massive multiplayer online role play game” around the world. Obtaining the gold for these two games is very easy, since almost every MMORPG virtual currency online store have WoW Gold and RS Gold for sale. Let me briefly go over the things you should know before buying WoW gold and RS Gold. buy runescape powerleveling

World of Warcraft comes in 2 English versions, USA version and Europe version. Each version has over 220 servers, total of 440+ servers, known as the biggest MMORPG in the world. If you purchase Gold for a specific server it will not work on other servers, so you have to be sure you are buying gold for the right version, the right server, and the right realm (alliance or horde) as well. Blizzard is very anxious about virtual currency shops selling WoW Gold, if you ever read their forum, you’ll notice that there are tons of news about banning gold farmers from their servers. Almost all the WoW Gold you find at online shops are farmed by Chinese; if an online shop claims that their gold is not from china, then they are fooling you for sure. Genuine MMORPG currency shops require that you place an order, and wait around 24 to 72 hours (depending on the amount you order), since they need time to gather the gold from the Chinese farmers, and the farmers need time to produce the gold. Do not trust any shop offering few minutes delivery claiming that they have in-stock gold, because there are over 440+ servers, 2 realms each, which require total of 880+ characters to carry stock, and no MMORPG currency shop out there will do that. After the shop have your gold ready, most of them will often mail the gold directly to your mailbox. However, the delivery method using mailbox is not the best method, because blizzard may ban the mail with the gold, ban the supplier. Finding the right method to deliver the gold to you is very important. Make sure you ask the MMORPG currency shop to check if they offer any other methods to deliver the gold to you. GameGoody.com currently offers to deliver the gold to your hand by claiming an in-game auction item you created, or by sending directly to your mailbox. Please keep in mind that you want the safest way to buy the Gold from sellers, and it is definitely worth a little extra time and work from your side to get the gold from the MMORPG currency shop to avoid any problems. buy runescape powerleveling

On the other hand, Runescape has around 144 worlds, free worlds and member worlds. Runescape 1 is the same as Runescape 2, so Runescape 1 gold works for Runescape 2 without any problems. The RS Gold you buy from any of the worlds will work for all other worlds, since the Gold stick with your character, and not with the world it self. From my knowledge, most of the MMORPG currency shop’s RS Gold is farmed by Chinese, Romanians, Indians and Americans. It really doesn’t matter who farm the gold, the most important is the method they use to farm the gold. Some farmers are using macro bots to farm the gold, which will end up with a ban; some are killing dragons which is a safer method to farm the gold. But as far as I know, the Runescape GM will not ban the buyer, they only ban the seller, thus as a customer, you really don’t have to worry much about it. Basically, after you placed an order in a MMORPG currency shop, they will meet you in a chosen world and do a face to face gold trade with you. Most of the MMORPG currency shops will carry a small stock of the RS gold, if your order is big, then you should wait for a short while (usually around 24 hours) till they gather the stock for you. You have to be patient sometimes when they are out of stock at that moment, it is very normal to be out of stock for RS, since the Gold works for all worlds. Finally, there is nothing tricky about buying RS Gold, just choose a good reliable MMORPG currency shop like GameGoody.com and step into a new gaming dimension hassle free.

Avoiding Common Scams

In your quest to become one of the wealthiest, richest, and most powerful players in Runescape, there will be many people that try to scam you for your hard earned money, and sometimes they might be able to get away with it. But now there is hope. This page is designed to inform you about common scams that you should watch out for to enjoy all the money you've worked so hard to earn. Arm yourself by reading about the following scams, so if you are faced by one of these scams, instead of crying that you lost your money, you will be laughing at the noob you just reported:

Trust Game:

Usually this one is done by a low level player claiming that they are giving away a lot of money or items. Then they will lead a large group of players to a certain place and claim that "The person who gives me the best thing will win (insert rare item here)". Most likely the scammer will have the rare item that they claim you will win with them. Then once someone gives the scammer an item, the scammer will say "So-and-so is in the lead for giving me an item worth this much", and basically you are suppose to keep giving items of more and more value if you want to win that rare item he told you about earlier. Well, after about 5 minutes ( or when everyone is out of things to give to the scammer who said whoever gives him the stuff worth the most wins the rare item) the scammer will simply log out. And along with him will dissapear all those items everyone gave him because they thought they could win that rare item if they gave him the best stuff.

Armour Trimming:

A player will come up to you claiming that they will trim your armor for free. Trimmed Armor comes from the prizes given in the member's mini-game Treasure Trails. No player can trim armor themselves, or have it trimmed by any NPC. The player might say they will take the armor to a members world and trim it for you. Once you give them your armor, you will never see it again.runescape power leveling

Borrowing Money:

This scam might be done by even someone who you thought to be a close friend for a long time. They will tell you for whatever reason, they need to borrow money for you. A common one is that they claim someone is selling a Rare Item for cheap, and they can buy it if you let them borrow some money from you. They will promise that once they sell that rare, they will share the profit with you. But really, once you give them money to borrow, you will be dissapointed because not only will you not get that profit, but you will also never get the money back you let your so-called friend borrow.

Jagex Staff Impersonation:

A random person will message you saying that he is a member of the Jagex Staff. Usually they say that they are having a special day today and just for today they will make you a member for free if you give them your password. Jagex for no reason will ask you for your password in the game, or outside of the game. The truth is, this person messaging you is someone who is just trying to get access to your account and looking to take your items. runescape power leveling

Runescape: How to Avoid Those Pesky Little Scammers

A very simple and easy to understand guide on how to avoid those annoying scammers in Runescape.

People often scam you in Runescape for something they would like to get of you with a cheaper price by tricking you. You wouldn't like that would you? If you were scammed and would like to know how to spot a scammer, then say no more, here is a guide on how to keep away from scammers and how to keep your stuff safe! cheap rs money

Scams & Hacks

1. One popular scam has surely got to be the mistaken amount scam. For an example, you are selling something for 25k, you see that someone is wanting to trade with you and they put in 25k. They accept it and when it come to the, “are you sure” bit of the trade, they retrade and change the amount quickly from 25k to 2.5k hoping you wouldn't notice and you would accept it. This has happened to me but the best thing is to do is take your time while trading. This usually happens with valuable stuff like rune, dragon, etc.

2. The two people scam trick, this I have seen in Varrock twice or thrice. This is when two friends or someone random join forces. One of them in a bank or a packed are announces buying something for a higher price than something is usually by a huge amount. The second person, down the road in a less packed is selling what the first person wants for a super cheap price. A random guy notices it and thinks they can make a pretty big profit so they buy the cheaper item and decide to sell it to the first person. The first person declines and that means you get ripped-of and the other two make money.

3. Trimming, I reckon the MOST popular scam. This happens usually in a packed area once again. The scammer shouts out trimming armor or weapon for free. If you are stupid enough you will trade him and find out that he has just got your weapon or armor for free! Hopefully I'm completely sure none of the people reading this have fallen for it. You can only get trimmed items from treasure trails which are only for members.

4. The “doubling item scam”, which I reckon is really dumb. If you trade them, they often just walk away and are often low levels with really dodgy names to remember to report them. cheap rs money

5. If you do surf the net for free memberships and guys that say they are member of the Jagex Staff and are giving free stuff away, often ask for your username and password. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT give them your username and password and this is also one of the rules in Runescape, "do not give your password out".

6. There are also websites which have a program like thing which you put your username and password in and says you are a member, log in after some amount of time. The websites look so similar to runescape's website and I too have fallen for this trick and so have others.

This is my second guide, my first guide was The Easiest runescape money Making Guide.

Zybez Christmas Events Wrap Up

First of all we would like to thank everyone who participated in Zybez's 12 Days of Christmas! It was a big success despite three cancelled events due to Jagex's updates. Had fun slaughtering your friends at castle wars, fight pits, and duel arena tournament? From the excitement of getting a zammy spear at god wars to searching players in Hide n' Safe, it is safe to assume that everyone had loads of fun during this holiday season!

We also hoped everyone enjoyed the last lottery ever held on Runescape. We sold over 600 tickets with the help of you guys! Congrats to Mickvanhesteren who's number got picked first and received 8.4M! Spend it wisely young grasshopper. cheap runescape gold

A big thank you goes out to Ben Goten78's 60M drop party! Unfortunately, people could barely move because of the lag and we even had to switch servers and locations three times! Thank you Ben Goten78 for your kind donation toward Runescape Community! At first we used Falador's drop party then switched to a Question and Answer game. At last Ben Goten78 decided to trade everyone individual and give away a special present! What more can you ask for? Missed the party? No worries, we got it taped! Thank you for your generous donation (to the right) Ben Goten78!

Most of the Events ran smoothly, without any rioting or flaming. This is something that is greatly appreciated, by everyone. We had the distinct pleasure of hosting all of these events, from Castle Wars to a Drop Party, just so you all could have fun and profit from it. And, thankfully, you did. We've received nothing but positive feedback and bucketloads of compliments. We all love you for that. cheap runescape gold
